System Design & Technology:

• Primary Loudspeakers: We installed JBL CBT Series column loudspeakers with beam-forming technology. These speakers are ideal for gyms because they provide wide horizontal coverage while controlling vertical dispersion. This directs sound toward the audience and away from reflective ceilings, significantly improving speech intelligibility.
• Protection: Custom-fabricated steel speaker cages were installed to protect the investment from stray basketballs.
• Amplification & Processing: A LEA Professional 4-channel amplifier with built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) powers and tunes the system. The DSP allows for precise optimization of the speakers for the room’s acoustics, controlling feedback and enhancing vocal clarity.
• Intuitive Control: The core of user-friendliness is an Allen & Heath CQ digital mixer. Staff can control audio via a simple touchscreen mounted in a convenient location or wirelessly from an iPad, allowing them to manage sound from anywhere in the room.
• Complete Microphone Package: The system includes four channels of Shure wireless microphones (handheld and lavalier bodypacks), three hanging choir microphones above the stage, and a wired Shure vocal microphone. This covers every possible use case.
• Enhanced Connectivity: New wall plate inputs were installed at the stage for connecting laptops, media players, or wired microphones. We also integrated audio from the school’s existing projector into the new sound system, so video playback is heard clearly through the main speakers.
• Reliable Infrastructure: The existing equipment rack was updated and organized. The installation included professional-grade surge protection and power sequencing to ensure long-term reliability.
