St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Sound System
System Requirements
St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, located in Wilmington Delaware, was in need of a new sound system. After seeing the JBL CBT columns in other projects, we were contacted for a design.
The existing system was comprised of older loudspeakers and was put together over many years. Aside from the improvement of sound quality, the Church needed new choir and instrument microphones, as well as an upgrade to an easy-to-use digital mixer console.
System Design
Our design team created a layout using the JBL CBT column speakers. After a model was created for a proof of concept, our install team implemented the new system.
Equipment list:
JBL CBT 70J-1 line array columns
JBL JRx218 subwoofers
Renkus-Heinz CX41 compact loudspeakers for choir monitors
Crown XTI-series amplifiers
Allen & Heath QU-24 digital mixing console
Shure BLX-R wireless microphones
Audix MicroBoom choir microphones
Result
The new sound system has been a huge improvement and allows the entire congregation to hear clearly from any seat. The JBL CBTs blend in well and provide even coverage. The digital mixing console has added some useful features for the volunteers who operate it, as well as presets to easily recall settings for various services.
