Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross Sound and Streaming System

System Requirements

The Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross, located in Medford, NJ needed a new sound and streaming system.  Prior to our involvement, they were using a phone for streaming and had a pair of home theater loudspeakers for their sound system.  For streaming, they needed a permanently installed camera that could capture the entire Church and was easy to operate.  For sound, they needed even coverage front to back, and something that would work with their loud HVAC system.  They also wanted an audio/video system in their basement which could serve as both an overflow area, and separate meeting space.

System Design

We took laser measurements of the Church to begin our design.  From there, we created a layout of the systems to present to the Church.  Since the HVAC system was a major concern, we provided a demo of the proposed equipment to ensure that there would be no issues.  We lead with a PTZOptics PTZ camera on the back wall, which can be controlled by the Church’s laptop.  For the sound system, we have an iPad controllable mixer with simple presets.  JBL CBT columns mounted on the side walls provide great coverage and sound quality for the entire Church.

The new sound and sound and streaming system is easy to use and provides a high-quality experience for both in-person and virtual viewing.  The mixer presets allow anyone to have the system running easily, and the streaming setup provides clear video for live streaming and to the basement AV system.

Sound and Streaming System Kingsway Baptist NJ

Kingsway Baptist Church Sound and Streaming System

System Requirements

Kingsway Baptist Church, located in Mickleton, NJ has been working with us to upgrade their sound and streaming systems for several years.   The overall objective throughout the projects has been high-quality sound and easy to use components.

System Design

Our design team took measurements of the sanctuary including the seating area and used computer software to determine the best loudspeakers for the space.  We lead with the EAW MK-series which are a two-way wooden cabinet.  We also used a smaller series from EAW for the monitors, which are also a wooden cabinet.  The design handles both speech and music and provides a very natural sound.  By using software, we were able to predict the coverage of the system before the installation, ensuring our solution worked perfectly for the room.  The QSC TouchMix mixer provided a simple interface, but with advanced controls that would allow for experience operators to make necessary adjustments.

Result

The new sound and streaming system has been a huge improvement for the Church.  The mixer provides complete control of the microphones and audio sources, with simple scenes to recall all of the settings.  The loudspeakers provide even coverage and clear sound for the entire space.

Parkside United Methodist Church Sound and Video System

Parkside United Methodist Church Audio, Video and Streaming System

System Requirements

Parkside United Methodist Church in Camden, NJ was looking for a complete overhaul of their existing A/V system and also wanted to add a streaming system.  The sound system had to provide high-quality speech and music reinforcement for both the main floor and the balcony.  The Church wanted large screens on the left and right side walls so that everyone could see the lyrics or videos.

System Design

We took laser measurements of the sanctuary to determine the optimal screen size and projector brightness.  This information was also used to select the best loudspeakers for the room that would cover the balcony and main floor.  Working with our design team, we created a solution that would provide high-quality sound, video, and streaming.

Equipment list:

  • JBL CBT column loudspeakers
  • Dual Eiki 7,000-lumen projectors
  • Blackmagic switcher and video recorder
  • Marshall PTZ streaming camera

Result

The new sound and video system provides high-quality audio and video for both the main floor and balcony.  With social distancing requirements, this was critical as members are spread throughout the sanctuary.  The streaming system provides production-style remote viewing for members wherever they area.  The internal video system allows other areas of the Church to be used as overflow areas for viewing services.

St. Annes Episcopal Church Streaming and Digital Mixer System

System Requirements

St. Annes Episcopal Church, located in Abington, PA, needed the ability to stream their services in a simple and professional way..  They wanted a PTZ camera to capture various shots of the sanctuary as well a the rear of the Church.  The system also had to stream audio and video to several TVs throughout the Church used for overflow.

System Design

Our design team lead with the PTZOptics camera due to our extensive experience with them, as well as the performance and features of the cameras.  We used a 30X zoom camera, which allows for a closer zoom to the front.  Our installation team ran a wired internet connection from the Church’s router to the streaming laptop as well as an audio line out from the mixer so we had a clean audio feed from the sound system.  The system also includes an ambient sound pickup microphone so we can pick up the organ, choir and people singing.

  • One (1) PTZOptics pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera installed in the back of the Church
  • QSC TouchMix8 digital mixer
  • Shure boundary microphone
  • Petit HDMI RF modulator coaxial modulator system

Result

The new streaming system is easily operated from an iPad or laptop and allows the congregation to remotely watch services.   With the direct audio feed from the sound system, there is clear sound from all of the microphones.  The added ambient sound microphone picks up the organ, choir, and people in the pews for a full sound for people watching remotely.

Streaming Camera Hedding United Methodist Church

Hedding United Methodist Streaming System

System Requirements

Hedding United Methodist had a temporary streaming system to broadcast services and was looking for permanently mounted cameras with a controller and an audio feed from their sound system.  They wanted two cameras two capture various angles and have the ability to cut between shots.  The current setup was on a tripod in the front of the Church with cables all over the floor.  They wanted a permanent setup in the back of the Church, so the system can be easily controlled and was always ready to go.

System Design

Our design team lead with the PTZOptics cameras due to our extensive experience with them, as well as the performance and features of the cameras.  On the back wall, we used a 20X zoom camera, which allows for a closer zoom to the front.  On the side wall, we used a 12X zoom which has a wider lens and is ideal for closer shots.  Our installation team ran a wired internet connection from the Church’s router to the streaming laptop as well as an audio line out from the mixer so we had a clean audio feed from the sound system.

The new streaming system blends seamlessly with the Church and provides multiples angles of the entire sanctuary.  There are no more wires laying on the floor and the system can be easily operated from the back of the Church.  With the direct audio feed from the sound system, there is clear sound from all of the microphones.
