Widener University Baseball Field Sound System
System Requirements
The Widener University Baseball Stadium did not have a permanent sound system installed, and would have to set up a powered loudspeaker in the window. This became a hassle and didn’t provide adequate coverage. The stadium is located close to a major highway which made it difficult to hear the announcer. The new baseball field speakers had to cover three sections of bleachers and the field, with the ability to handle both speech and music.
System Design
We selected Community’s R-series loudspeakers for the system. The Community R-series are perfect baseball field speakers and provide great sound while being designed to survive the elements. Smaller R-series speakers were used to cover the three sections of bleachers. We then installed an R.5-MAX on a pole to provide coverage for the field.
Featured Equipment:
-
- Three Community R.35-3896 loudspeakers for the stands
- One Community R.5MAX for the field
- Crown XTI-4002 amplifiers
- Shure rack-mount mixer
Result
The new sound system covers all three sections of the stands evenly as well as onto the field. Both spectators and athletes experience high-quality sound and the operation of the system is simple for the staff.
